Ravi Patwardhan rose to prominence with the Marathi entertainment industry following his role in the superhit TV show, Aggabai Sasubai. In Bollywood, he was best known for his parts in films like the 1988 Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer, Tezaab, as also the 1986 Nana Patekar starrer, Ankush.
Hindi and Marathi actor of both film and the stage, Ravi Patwardhan has passed away at 84 following a heart attack late Saturday evening, 5th December. which saw him being rushed to Jupiter hospital in Thane. However, the actor did not make it and was declared as deceased soon after being admitted. Ravi Patwardhan was rushed to hospital after complaining of breathing issues and suffering a seizure at home. His health complications began after meeting with a minor accident at home, which also saw him discontinuing his shoot for a Marathi TV serial. However, his friends and neighbours remember him as a pretty healthy individual for his age until that point.
“Initially, he showed signs of improvement, but later stopped responding, and within half an hour, we lost him,” said Ravi Patwardhan’s older son, Niranjan, in a statement to Times of India. “Irrespective of the length of the role, he played his character with equal passion and vigour. Ravi Patwardhan is an inspiration to the artists’ fraternity,” echoed Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday while paying condolence to the actor.In Bollywood, he was best known for his parts in films like the 1988 Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit starrer, Tezaab, as also the 1986 Nana Patekar starrer, Ankush. His other noteworthy Marathi films include Singhasan (1979), Umbartha (1982), Bin Kamacha Navra (1984), Jhanjaar (1987), Dista Tasa Nasta (1988), Rangat Sangat (1988), Shejari Shejari (1990), Gandh Matila Aala (1995) and Checkmate (2008) while in Hindi cinema, he’s also known for his work in movies like Pratighaat (1987), Narsimha (1991), Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992), Chamatkar (1992) and Thakshak (1999).
