Tapsee Pannu has started with the training of Mithali Raj’s biopic ‘Shabaash Mithu’. The movie is based on the life and achievements of India’s Women Cricket Team Captain Mithali Raj.

Right after completing the shooting of her film ‘Rashmi Rocket’ on Monday, Tapsee Pannu started with her cricket training from Wednesday under coach Nooshin Al Khadeer. She shared a picture of her on Social Media, holding a bat ready to strike a shot.

She wrote,“ And romance with bat n ball has begun….. long way to go but a good start is half job done 🙂 This is going to be another milestone of sorts… For our captain cool @M_Raj03 and all her #WomenInBlue #ShabhaahMithu @rahuldholakia @AndhareAjit @Viacom18Studio (sic),”.

To this Mithali Raj commented, “shine on girl! You’ll ace this role!”.

The biopic was announced in 2019 on the birthday of Mithali Raj on 3 December. The film will be directed by Rahul Dholakia and is produced by Ajit Andhare. Dholakia has previously directed movies like ‘Raees’, ‘Lamhaa’ and ‘Parzania’. The screenplay of the film is written by Priya Aven. The release date of the movie has not yet been official declared.

Mithai Raj is a captain of India women’s ODI cricket team. Born in Jodhpur Rajasthan, she is India’s right-handed opening batswoman and occasional right-arm leg-break bowler. She is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket, the only female cricketer to surpass the 6000 run mark in Women’s One Day International matches. She is also the record holder for making most half-centuries in Women’s One Day International.

She is the only player from India (either male or female) to score 2000 runs T20Is. It was under her captainship that the Indian cricket team reached the finals of the Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2017. Mithali Raj is a recipient of the Arjuna Award (2003) and Padma Shri (2015). Her fans and all the cricket lovers all around the country are waiting for this biopic to come into cinemas.
